i have been here for nearly 2 weeks now. at times it has been so awesome and at times it has been so frustrating! the foundations for the first house are finished and we have built most of the bathroom. at times we have been waiting around for materials to be delivered which is hard when there are people to do the work.
today we started on the second house. we are not rebuilding another house but adding on to the back of it. the reason for this is that the mayor is moving people from this area into proper houses but that could take up to 3 years before everyone is moved.
its so encouraging to see the children of both houses so eager to help. both come from families with different father situations but they are all so excited to have us there. we are all their aunts and uncles and they want to be with us all day even though we don't understand what they say to us!its great to encourage them and give them a chance to do something they couldn't normally!
on saturday we had an outreach and i had the opportunity to dance and speak so that was really good. we gave out food, cut hair, did face painting and had entertainment going. it was so different from any gx shows in canada because it was just on a dirt road! but it was so good to do and God was definately in it!

first days in brazil
our first days in brazil have been great. we spent the weekend getting to know the area and seeing the city which was a lot of fun.
work began full out on monday. this week we are replacing an old wooden house for a family of 5 with a new one. its in a realy poor ares where everyone pretty much lives in shacks. words cant even discribe what its like so i hope to get some pictures up soon.
its a hard job but they are already so appreciative of everything we are doing.
it really makes you appreciate all you have and wonder why you complain about stuff that you definately dont need!
